keeping the faith.

so i'm sick again. mmhmm. my mom came to visit yesterday and stayed through this afternoon. during dinner last night i started to feel strange. tonight i have a sore throat and chills. it could be worse, and i'm grateful that it's not, but i'm sick of being sick. it was good to be able to spend time with my mom today and yesterday. the opportunity we have to spend together just us these days is rare and it meant a lot to me that she came and saw where i lived and got a taste for my life.

she asked me something late last night, after looking at all the artwork on my walls from threenails stuff, that surprised me.

"do you resent dad and i for not introducing you to a religion or faith growing up?"

i looked at her with a warm heart and confidently said "no, i don't"

she said softly "i feel guilty about it"

the best answer i found to give her was, "mom, i think the way things went down are the way they were supposed to go down."

i talked with her about how i felt i had a unique perspective on my faith because of the way i came to it and i know that God is using me to serve Him and how awesome it is to see the way things play out to His glory. i don't know what she thought about that or if she even understood what i meant. but man...it renewed my trust that God really does have a hold on my family, and He has not left them, even when my faith in His sovereignty has failed.

i have more thoughts on this but i think i'll try to get them down tomorrow.

Those moments when parents reveal to us their fears that they somehow failed are so strange and moving. It makes you realize just how much they care about you still. I'm glad you got to spend some time with your mom. I'll be praying that your little conversation planted something in her and that's she'll continue to seek for answers.

I hope you feel better. Love you!
