adventures in babysitting.

can i say how amazing it is that a baby fits perfectly around the side of a young woman's hip? it's so awesome the way God designed His creations right down to the details of a tongue and groove fit of a baby's legs to a woman's hip. when i pick ellie up it's such a natural thing. i love it when she looks for me from the other room and when her eyes find me she smiles really big, laughs and flaps her arms as if she was saying "well hi! there you are! it's so good to see you!" and the way she smells right behind her ears, that baby smell. how blessed holly and jim must feel every day for this new life.

ellie's is the first infant baptism i have been a part of where i can see what it looks like every day to live out the committment we all made that night, months ago. to raise her in a community that loves her and witnesses Christ to her in that love. it's something that is so fascinating to me since i didn't grow up in the church to see a committment like that organically lived out in a real way. i feel honored to have been part of making that life long committment and i'm totally psyched to watch ellie grow into the woman God has called her to be. a beautiful woman full of joy and compassion. a woman, as her parent's pray, that will love the unloved.

peace to you eleanor rankin zaher. though i feel it should be the other way around, you teach me more about our Father every day.
