let's hear it for the girls

my apologies to those out in blogger world that have noticed my absence from the scene the last couple of months. seems as though my most lucid writing moments came in the days where i didn't have a full time job. sort of discouraging, but i suppose it's something i just have to keep at regardless of the busyness of my days.

this morning i sat in a diner across from a friend over eggs, coffee and toast as it rained outside. "are you doing okay?" she asked. yeah, i'm okay. i mean maybe my life isn't totally perfect right now. maybe there are things i would change. but yes, i'm okay. as messy and frustrating as being a part of a community of people intentionally living life together can be, it is without a doubt the greatest blessing in my life. i have lately been really impressed and grateful for the women in my community. girls that have challenged me, encouraged me, supported me, listened to me, inspired me, taught me and loved me. the cell group that meets at my house right now consists of myself and two other girls who have become dear friends of mine. wednesday night we sat in my living room and i found myself intensely aware that this is what God intended with the blessing of fellowship. cooking together, eating together, laughing together, sharing our lives, our joys, our burdens together. THESE are the places i have seen Christ and His life's work in this community. regardless of my job, my location, my income level, what kind of ministry i'm involved in..if i can spend my time sharing life with people who push me to my learning edge and where God is moving, and remind me of the love that has freed me, i'll be okay.
